The Endless Work of the Honeybee

The Endless Work of the Honeybee

Posted on October 18, 2012

Nothing works harder than the honeybee! While pollinating a great portion of the world’s plants, honeybees never stop producing what we at Massey Honey consider one of the most valuable additions to culinary art—honey. We founded this company as a sustainable movement to support these amazing creatures.

Our hives are located in the North Orange County region, where we source unprocessed, unfiltered, and all-natural honey. The honey is taken direct from frames in the hive (as shown, minus the bees),
uncapped, extracted by hand, and strained. The “rawness” of this honey not only reflects its untreated production but also the respect we pay to the honeybees’ habitats and execution. We bottle honey that is optimally nutritious. It is a bonus that such respect also results in the deepest flavor and most vibrant color.

Supporting local honey not only aids the honeybee population but contributes to the entire agricultural community as a whole. Consider these important facts….

– One out of every three bites of food you eat owes a debt to a honeybee
– Honeybees pollinate approximately 80% of the world’s plants
– Due to its low pH and water content, honey will never spoil
– Honeybees are the only insects that produce food for people to eat
– 1 lb. of honey is equivalent to two million flowers visited for nectar
– Raw honey has myriad nutritional and health benefits, including vitamins, minerals, antioxidants, cough suppression,    glycogen storage, wound healing, and digestion
